OpenTracks doesn’t collect personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, in the app or on this website. This page explains the few things that do happen.
Your location
If you allow it, the app uses your location to show where you are on the map and to centre the map on you.
Your location is used only on your iPhone. It’s never sent to us or stored by us. You can turn it off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.
What stays on your iPhone
Your favourites, filters and map style are saved on your iPhone only. Deleting the app deletes them.
Track data
The app downloads the list of tracks from our server. Like any server, it receives your IP address and basic technical details (such as your iPhone’s system version) with each request, and our hosting provider may keep these in logs for security and to keep the service running. We don’t use them to identify you.
Services we rely on
Maps and directions are provided by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. Links to race documents and to the data sources open their websites, which have their own policies.
This website
This website doesn’t use analytics or tracking. It sets one small cookie only if you switch language, to remember your choice. As with the app, our hosting provider may keep technical logs.
If you email us
We use your email address and message only to reply to you, and we delete them when they’re no longer needed.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
